Rusenski Lom National Park
The Rusenski Lom National Park is one of the ten natural parks of Bulgaria. It is situated along the canyon-like valley of Rusenski Lom River – the last tributary of the Danube river on the right. It was declared protected territory in 1970 and spans on an area of 3408 ha. The park is famous as an interesting and valuable site with high aesthetic value – the presence of beautiful riverside terraces, meanders, high sheer cliffs, areas with rich variety of species, caves, rocky formations and historical monuments of national and international significance. The Rusenski Lom National Park is a unique combination of natural scenery and cultural elements. This is a sizable area inhabited by rare species and such threatened by extinction in European fauna, such as: Falco cherrug, Neophron perenopterus, Aguilla chrysaetos, Buteo rufinus, etc. The Rusenski Lom National Park is included in the indicative list of UNESCO in 1984.
